Private School near Kingsclere, Hampshire – Dead-wooding a large Oak Tree

We recently carried out this job for a long term client of ours at a private school near Kingsclere. They have lots of trees of different varieties and sizes on the site, ranging from very large to fairly small – all that need to be well maintained and looked after properly. They have a full time on site gardening team who deal with a lot of the work that needs doing, and then Foxes are normally there a few times a year carrying out larger tree work for them. With the school being on the main road from Newbury to Basingstoke, a lot of the time we have had to organise traffic management and also liaise with the local authority Highways department when carrying out work here. They have a number of large roadside trees that need attention from time to time, and this cannot be completed without traffic lights to keep the general public safe. On this occasion this was not required as the Oak tree in question was further in to the school grounds, which made the job a little more straight forward.

This particular job involved using our large cherry picker to remove any major dead wood from the Oak tree’s canopy. Removing dead or dying branches to encourage new growth in the tree. These branches can become dangerous if left on the tree, as during high winds and storms they can fall, so it is important to get them removed as soon as possible.

The job went smoothly with a team of four on site, and the use of the cherry picker makes dead wooding trees much easier and safer for everyone involved. The job had to be carried out during a school holiday period to minimise disruption to students at the school. The clients were very happy with the work carried out.
